Volunteer your time!
Because we do not have a centralized facility that houses animals, we rely on foster homes to house all of the pets in our program. This means we do not have a lot of traditional volunteer roles that would be done in a facility; however, the below opportunities are critical to our operations, and help save pet lives.
Adoption Coordinators
The Adoption Coordinator (AC) is responsible for guiding our animals through the adoption journey by communicating with foster families regarding vetting and the adoption process. Responsibilities include:
Communicating with foster families
Sharing updates with other CHS volunteers
Coordinating veterinary care for foster animals
Organizing foster animal biography & photos for adoption
Reviewing and approving adoption applications
Arranging potential adopter & foster meetings
Attending adoption meet-and-greets in person or via video call
Providing adopters with CHS adoption materials & following up post-adoption
Foster Families
Since we do not have a central facility to house animals, we rely on foster homes to provide for the pets in our program. This makes foster families the most critical role in the organization. Since we are not limited by building capacity, our only limits are on how many available foster homes we have. For more information about fostering, click here.
Recruiting Coordinator
To help more animals, we need to grow. To grow, we need someone to coordinate our recruiting efforts. We are looking for someone to:
Respond to volunteering inquiries
Meet with prospective volunteers to teach them about our program, and explain fostering and other volunteer roles
Process volunteer applications & arrange training
Work with youth volunteers to help them plan fundraising & supply drive activities
Be an ambassador for CHS at events
Professional or Certified Trainers
Some dogs need a little extra help adjusting to living in a home, and functioning in a neighborhood. If you have dog training skills & are willing to volunteer your time, we could use your skills.
Youth Volunteers
Youth volunteers can help make a difference by:
Organizing supply drives, litter drives, or kitten food drives at their school or in their community
Our supply needs are very specific, so reach out to us for guidance on what type of drives to organize before you get started.
Share our social media posts to spread the word on pets needing adoption, events we are having, and other needs.
Bake sales for fundraisers.
