Can I surrender my pet to Coppell Humane Society (CHS)?

CHS does not have a physical location and is limited in intake by the number of foster families that are volunteering. The best option for re-homing with CHS is the guest foster program where CHS would post your pet on our website & assist with the adoption process while the pet remains in your home. To qualify, pets must be sterilized and it is up to you to keep them up to date on their vaccines. Contact us for more information.

For immediate surrender, contact the local shelter. Search “Animal Services” for your area. 

I found an animal, what should I do? 

  • Check for an ID tag and take the animal to a vet office to scan for a microchip. 

  • Talk to your neighbors (they may know who the pet belongs to). Walk around the neighborhood in case the owner is out searching. 

  • If unable to keep the animal in your home contact your local animal services. Local shelters have hold periods and are the first place owners check for lost pets. 

  • If able to keep in your home, post found flyers around the neighborhood and share online on lost pet websites and neighborhood groups.

  • If unable to find an owner, consider fostering until the animal can be rehomed.

Where is Coppell Humane Society located? 

We do not have a dedicated facility, all of our animals are located in foster homes throughout DFW, primarily in Dallas and Denton County. You will have to contact us to meet adoptable pets. 

Does Coppell Humane Society offer veterinary services?

Coppell Humane Society is not set up to provide vet services for the public’s pets. If you are looking for a new veterinarian, check out some recommended vets at https://www.coppellhumanesociety.org/our-supporters.

Can my workplace volunteer for a day? 

Without a physical shelter location, CHS is not recommended for corporate single day volunteering. Some great alternatives for workplace philanthropy to support CHS are:

  • A monetary or supply donation drive.

  • Encouraging adoption by advertising adoptable animals to employees.

  • Hosting an adoption event.

Can I volunteer if I am under 18?

Yes, with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. With limited public events, CHS encourages youth volunteers to be creative and engage with their local community to support CHS. Activities such as:

  • School or community monetary or supply donation drive.

  • Creating and posting advertisements for adoptable pets in the community.

  • Create social media campaigns and tag us to promote adoptable animals. 

  • Crafting toys or blankets for cats/dogs.

Can you take my pet supplies?

Unopened food, unopened cat litter, and gently used toys or pet supplies (like dishes or leashes) are accepted. We do not accept already open pet food. Items such as old towels/blankets are more commonly requested at physical shelters, please reach out to your local animal services shelter for such items. The location for supply drop offs can change, so contact us donations@coppellhumanesociety.org to arrange an exchange or drop off.
